7/6 – Palle Schmidt in San Francisco

Danish comics creator Palle Schmidt will sign his newly reissued and translated graphic novel The Devil's Concubine in San Francisco at Isotope Comics. The signing takes place from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at Isotope Comics located at 326 Fell Street, San Francisco, CA. The event is free to the general public.

7/7 Papercutter Book Release & Exhibit in Portland

Many of the emerging comics creators whose work is collected in the new anthology Papercutter #16, will appear at the opening of a new art exhibit showcasing their art in Portland at Floating World Comics. The list of creators featured in the book who will be appearing at the release party includes Graham Annable, Elijah Brubaker, Lisa Eisenberg, Jonathan Hill, Sarah Oleksyk, Jesse Reklaw, Bwana Spoons and Aron Steinke. Copies of Papercutter #16 will be available for sale and signing at the event. The opening takes place from 6 – 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, at Floating World Comics at 20 Northwest 5th Avenue, #101, Portland, OR.The event is open free to the public.

7/9 The Quiet Rrriot Talk, Signing & Exhibit in Seattle

Zine and comics creators Stella Marrs, Megan Kelso and Nikki McClure, influential members of the 90's Riot Grrl movement, will appear at Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery in Seattle at the opening of The Quiet Rrriot, an exhibit of their work. The show will include a wide variety of works created by the three artists during the period as well as a collection of original zines from the movement. McClore and Kelso will provide an artist's talk for the exhibit at 7 p.m. Copies of Fantagraphics' new reissue of Megan Kelso's book Queen of the Black Black will be available for sale and signing at the event. The opening will take place from 6 - 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, at the Fantagraphics Bookstore, located at 1201 South Vale Street, Seattle, WA.

7/16 Derby City Comic Con

On July 16, the 2011 Derby City Comic Con will take place in Louisville, KY and feature such guests as Gary Friedrich, Janet K. Lee, Rick Ketcham and Steve Bird. Derby City Comic Con will be located at the Kentucky International Convention Center at 221 Fourth Street, Louisville, KY. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tickets are $7, children 12 and under may enter free of charge with a paying adult.
