9/6-9/12 9/11 Memorial Cartoons Exhibit at MoCCA in New York

From September 6-12, the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in New York City will be displaying “Cartoonists Remember”, a special short run exhibit of cartoons memorializing the 9/11 attacks. Created in coordination with King Features Syndicate, the exhbit will feature Sunday strips from 93 participating artists, which will also be posted to the internet at the website CartoonistsRemember9/11. MoCCA is located at Entrance to the exhbit is free with entrance to the museum. The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is located at 594 Broadway, Suite 401, New York, NY. Admission is $6 for adults and free for children 12 and under.

9/10 Gene Luen Yang & Thien Pham in Berkeley, CA

Gene Luen Yang and Thien Pham, creators of the new graphic novel Level Up, will be giving a free all-ages lecture on publishing comics at The Escapist Comics Bookstore in Berkley. They will discuss a variety of options available to comic creators, from mini-comics, webcomics and self-publishing to working with a traditional comics publisher and working with a graphic novel imprint. The event takes places at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, at The Escapist, located at 3090 Claremont Ave., Berkley, CA.

9/10-9/11 Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD

On September 10 and 11, the 2011 Small Press Expo will take place in Bethesda, Md and feature such guests as Carla Speed McNeil, Jim Woodring, Johnny Ryan, Kate Beaton and Craig Thompson. The Small Press Expo will be held at the Marriot North Bethesda at 5701 Marinelli Road, Bethesda, MD. Hours are 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for one day, $15 for two days.
