10/19 Cartooning Master Class with Hilary Price in San Francisco

Hilary Price, creator of the comic strip Rhymes with Orange, will be offering a one-evening master class in gag cartooning at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco on October 19. The event will take place from 7-9 p.m., is open to teen and adult students and tickets are $40 for museum members and $50 for non-members.

10/29 Halloween Party with Jill Thompson in Chicago

Eisner award-winning comics creator Jill Thompson, co-creator of Scary Godmother, will be hosting an all day, two part Halloween Party at Challengers Comics in Chicago on October 29. From 3-5 p.m. Thompson and Challengers will present an all-ages party, complete with candy and games for children, and from 8 p.m. - 12 a.m., they will be holding party for guests over the age of twenty one, with drinks and treats provided. Costumes are encouraged at the all-ages party, and required at the evening party. Both events are free to the general public. Challengers Comics is located at 1845 North Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.

11/1 Master Class with Howard Chaykin in New York

The Museum of Cartoon and Comic Book Art in New York City will be hosting a special master class on graphic design with acclaimed comics creator Howard Chaykin. Entitled “Design in the Service of the Narrative”, the class covers using the visual language of comics properly in order to tell stories in a clear and effective manner. The class takes place from 7 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, at the museum. Entrance is $40 to the general public, $35 to museum members. MoCCA is located at 594 Broadway, Suite 401, New York, NY.
