2/17-2/19 Megacon Comics Convention in Orlando, FL

On February 17-19, Megacon 2012 will take place in Orlando, Florida and feature such comic creator guests as Stan Lee, Dan DiDio, Frank Cho, Amanda Conner, Darwyn Cooke and Chuck Dixon among many others. Megacon 2012 will be held at the Orange County Convention Center, Halls D and E at 9000 International Drive, Orlando, Florida. Hours are 1-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are sold at the door for $25 per day or $60 for the weekend, children under 10 enter free.

2/22 Big City Dare 2 Draw Charity Draw-In at Museum of Comics and Cartoon Art in New York, NY

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, MoCCA, in New York City will be holding its monthly Dare 2 Draw charity art event on Wednesday, February 22. Guest up and coming comics artists Liz Biggers, Jennifer Crute, Robin Ha, Kat Roberts, Giovanni Valetta and Klaus Schmidheiser will create art live before an audience of fans as well as taking part in a round table discussion, and the evening will also include game show style contests and prizes for guests. The event will take place at the museum from 6 – 9:30 p.m., and is a fundraiser for the museum’s mission of comics preservation.

2/24-2/26 Image Comics Expo in Oakland, CA

On February 24-26 the Image Comics Expo will take place in Oakland, CA. Celebrating creator-owned comics and the twentieth anniversary of Image Comics, the exhibit floor will host a variety of comics professionals creating creator-owned works, not just those published Image. Image partners Robert Kirkman, Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentino will be the guests of honor, while founders Rob Liefeld and Whilce Portacio and comics creators such as Joe Casey, Jonathan Hickman, Fiona Staples, and Brian K. Vaughan will be among the guests. The Image Comics Expo will be held at the Oakland Convention Center at 550 10th Street, Oakland, CA. Hours are 3-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m Saturday, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20 for Friday or Sunday, $25 for Saturday and $35 for all three days.

3/1 Larry Gonick Book Discussion and Signing in New York

Cartoon History of the World creator Larry Gonick will appear at The 8th Floor gallery in Manhattan on March 1 at 6 p.m. to discuss and sign his new book, The Cartoon Guide to Calculus. The 8th Floor is located on the eighth floor of 17 West 17th Street, New York, NY. Guests are asked to RSVP to info@the8thfloor.org, but admission is free.
