4/10 First US Meeting of Laydeez Do Comics in San Francisco, CA

The first meeting of the US chapter of Laydeez Do Comics, a new group for women in comics, will take place from 7-9 p.m. on April 10 at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. Comics creator Trina Robbins, with the help of Maureen Burdock and Heather Plunkett, will present the meeting. Robbins will present a multimedia talk on the history of women in comics and comics by women, and cookies will be provided. Laydeez Do Comics was founded in the UK by Sarah Lightman and Nicole Streeten. The Cartoon Art Museum is located at 655 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA. Laydeez Do Comics is a free event open to members of the public of either gender, emphasizing the work of women.

4/13-4/15 Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) in Chicago, IL

On April 13 through 15, the 2012 Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) will take place in Chicago and feature such comic creator guests as Bill Willingham, Gail Simone, Joe Quesada, Jill Thompson and Geoff Johns among many others as well as literary guests such as Anne Rice and Robin Hobb. C2E2 2012 will be held at the North Building of McCormick Place convention center at 2301 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. Hours are 1 - 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $35 for a single day and $65 for all three days at the door and are $25 for a day pass and $50 for the whole show if purchased online.

4/19 Toonseum Fundraiser Party with Doug Sneyd in Pittsburgh, PA

Veteran cartoonist Doug Sneyd, cartoonist for Playboy since 1964, will be hosting a comics and cocktails party on April 19 at 7 p.m. at Pittsburgh's Toonseum comics museum. A benefit event for the museum, festivities will include a live interview with Sneyd, works by Sneyd on exhibit and for sale, free cocktails and live lounge music. Tickets are available online for $50 to the general public and $40 to Toonseum members. The Toonseum recently suffered serious losses to its collection, estimated at $25,000, after catastrophic roof damage to its comics storage site. The Toonseum is located at 945 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA.
