8/6-8/9 Comics Writing Master Class with Danny Fingeroth in New York

Comics creator and longtime Marvel editor Danny Fingeroth will be offering a three-evening master class in comic book scripting at the Soho Gallery for Digital Art in New York City on August 6-9. The event will take place from 6-9:30 p.m. all three nights and is open to adult students. Students are instructed to bring three one-paragraph story ideas and a laptop or other digital writing device, and will leave having completed a comic script. Tuition is $425 and can be paid in advance through the gallery's website. The Soho Gallery for Digital Art is located at 138 Sullivan Street, New York, NY.

8/8 "Gambit" Launch and Signing with in Los Angeles

Comics creator James Asmus of Generation Hope and Captain America and Bucky will be celebrating the release of the first issue of his new Marvel comic Gambit with a signing at Golden Apple Comics at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8. Admission is free to the general public, and free orange juice and donuts will be provided. Gold Apple Comics is located at 7018 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.

8/10 "Bandette" Art Showing with Colleen Coover in Portland

Acclaimed comics creator Colleen Coover, known for her work on will appear at an exclusive showing of art from her buzzworthy new creator-owned comic book Bandette in Portland, Oregon at Things from Another World. Coover will unveil the original art of the first thirteen pages of her book, exhibiting the original art for her gallery audience. Bandette is one of the flagship books of the new digital comics publisher MonkeyBrain. A special edition signed print will be available free to the first 100 guests on a first-come, first-served basis, and free food and beer will be provided. The showing takes place at Things from Another World located at 2916 NE Broadway, Portland, OR. This event is open free to the public.
