9/6 MADison Avenue Party at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco

The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco will be holding a fundraising event and exhibit closing reception on Thursday, September 6 from 7-9 p.m. Entitled the "MADison Avenue Party", the event is 60's Madison Avenue themed in honor of the early days of MAD Magazine and reminiscent of Mad Men. The event will include live music, celebrity bartenders serving "MADhattans", 60's-esque sketch art of attendees and a vintage-style Goorin Brothers Hats pop-up shop benefiting the museum. The Cartoon Art Museum's exhibit "What Me Worry?: 60 Years of Mad" will be closing on 8/16, so guests are encouraged to see it while they can. Entry is free to members and $5-$500 for non-members, depending on how much they choose to pay. The Cartoon Art Museum is located at 655 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA.

9/8-9/9 Baltimore Comic Con in Baltimore, MD

On September 8 - 9, the 2012 Baltimore Comic Con will take place in Baltimore, Maryland and feature such comic creator guests as Garth Ennis, Carla Speed McNeil, Dean Haspiel, J.G. Jones, Amanda Conner and Mark Waid. The con is home to the prestigious Harvey Awards, which will be presented on Saturday. The 2012 Baltimore Comic Con will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center located at 1 West Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD. Hours are 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $25 for Saturday, $20 for Sunday, $40 for the weekend, and can be purchased online. An extra fee is required to see Stan Lee.

9/10 Raina Telgenmeier, Doug Tennapel and James Burks Discuss Graphic Novels in San Francisco

Books Inc. in San Francisco will be holding a special panel discussion about graphic novel storytelling featuring graphic novelist guests Raina Telgenmeier (Drama), Doug Tennapel (Cardboard) and James Burks (Bird & Squirrel on the Run). The event will take place from 7 – 9 p.m. on Monday, 9/10, and admission will be free to the general public. Books Inc. is located at 3515 California st., San Francisco, CA.
