9/26 Happy! Release Party and Concert with Darick Robertson Los Angeles, CA
Comics creator Darick Robertson (The Boys, Transmetropolitan) will be celebrating the release of the first issue of his new comic Happy! with a party at Golden Apple Comics from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26. Co-created with Grant Morrison, the new Image comic is about an unlucky hitman and a little blue horse named Happy. Live music will be performed by the band Magnolia Memoir, and the event is free to the public. Gold Apple Comics is located at 7018 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.
9/28-9/30 MorrisonCon with Grant Morrison, Robert Kirkman, Gerard Way and more in Las Vegas, NV
On 9/28-9/30, Grant Morrison, iFanboy and Isotope Comics present MorrisonCon, a one-time comics special event presented by Morrison in Las Vegas. Different from a traditional comic con, Morrison Con only has 10 comic creator guests, but will feature them at many panels and events, giving fans more time with their favorite creators. The lineup of guests are: Grant Morrison, Robert Kirkman, Darick Robertson, Jason Aaron, Jim Lee, Gerard Way, Jonathan Hickman, Frank Quitely, J.H. Williams III and Chris Burnham. The convention will begin with a thirty minute spoken word theater piece/occult ritual performed by Grant Morrison with musical accompaniment by Gerard Way and James Dewees. This event will depict Liberace and Howard Hughes fighting to the death over the soul of Las Vegas. MorrisonCon programming begins at 9 p.m. on Friday, 9/28 and continues until 6 p.m. on Sunday 9/30. Morrison Con takes place at the Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas. Ticket and hotel packages are still available, but must be purchased in advance at MorrisonCon.com.
9/30 MICE: Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo in Boston, MA
On September 29, the 2012 Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo (MICE) will take place in Boston and feature such comic creator guests as R. Sikoryak, Box Brown and the Boston Comics Roundtable among many others. The 2012 MICE will be held at Lesley University's University Hall, located at 1815 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA. Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and admission is free to the general public.
