Madefire, creator of the Motion Books interactive comics platform, is teaming up with educational games developer JumpStart to create Motion Books digital stories for its Neopets online community.

The first issue of the Neopets Motion Books series will be released this week, followed by three more issues later in November. Neopet Motion Books will be released biweekly beginning in December. The first issue of Neopets Motion Books will be free and subsequent issues will be sold for 99 cents. Neopets Motion Books are available on iOS and Android operating systems and available via the web.

JumpStart produces digital learning games for kids and include Neopets, an online community that allows kids to create their own customized virtual cartoon animals and interactive pets. The Neopets community has more than 71 million registered users. (Jumpstart, the educational gaming firm, has no relation to the national early education and literacy organization of the same name.) Madefire uses its Motion Books platform to create original graphic novels complete with sound, limited animation and interactive features. Madefire also works in conjunction with a variety of licensing partners (among them DC Comics, Archie Comics, IDW, DeviantArts and others) as well as self-publishers, who use the Motion Books technology to animate and distribute their digital comics.

JumpStart CEO David Lord described the Motion Books platform as, “ ideal for visual storytelling.” Madefire CEO and cofounder Ben Wolstenholme said, "Our new partnership with Jumpstart will expose Motion Books to a significant new audience and again proves that Motion Books is an ideal companion for any franchise in games, TV, film, or other merchandising categories."
