New Cookbook from Vook
Vook has released another cookbook (er, “cookvook”): personal chef Judith Klinger’s Cooking Simply: The Italian Way. Klinger based the video enhanced cookbook on her blog, Aroma Cucina. Cooking Simply: The Italian Way includes recipes, culinary history, a glossary, lists of pantry essentials and kitchen tools, links, and videos shot in Umbria, Italy.

Apps from Martha and Moskowitz

On January 27, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia/Callaway Digital Arts released an updated version of the Martha Stewart Makes Cookies app. Priced at $2.99 through Valentine’s Day, the updated app has 26 new cookie recipes—including Pillowy Meringue Hearts—bringing the total to more than 90 recipes, as well as ideas for decorating for V-Day. Also new to the app market is a BlackBerry app of ABC's of Vegan with a Vengeance, developed by Mobifusion. The $9.99 app is based around the works of Isa Chandra Moskowitz, whose Vegan with a Vengeance came out from Da Capo in 2005. The app includes 125 recipes; and “Punk Points” tricks on how to work with vegan ingredients and how to inexpensively keep a vegan diet.

Singla Signs in Chicago

Anupy Singla, author of The Indian Slow Cooker (Agate/Surrey) recently signed books at Borders in Chicago. In the book, Singla offers 50 recipes that combine traditional Indian flavors with the convenience of slow cooking. The book, first published in October, is now in its sixth printing.
