Newmarket Press has acquired the first and only book on 4TROOPS, a music group of four U.S. combat vets who served on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan, whose debut CD has just been released by Sony Music. Newmarket will release the illustrated book, 4TROOPS: The Mission Is Music, in September, coinciding with the launch of the group’s 60-city fall concert tour.

The 144-page, four-color, $14.95 paperback will include more than 120 photographs, as well as bios and personal stories from the soldiers, former Cpt. Meredith Melcher, former Sgt. Daniel Jens, staff Sgt. (RET.) Ron Henry, and former Sgt. David Clemo. It will explain how they came together and recorded their album, and the role of music in the military.

4TROOPS’s self-titled debut album was released on the Sony Masterworks label on May 11. The group has been interviewed and performed on Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, and NPR. They will promote the CD on GMA, Nightline, Fox & Friends, Larry King Live, The Early Show, Huckabee, and Imus. Their first national TV concert special, 4TROOPS: Live from the Intrepid, will air on PBS stations during the upcoming June and August pledge drives.
