Judith Rosen, PW’s longtime New England correspondent, has been named the magazine’s new bookselling editor beginning September 1. Rosen will continue to cover the New England region from her Cambridge office, but will now expand her reporting on all areas of bookselling. “Judith is one of the most knowledgeable reporters on the bookselling beat and we are very glad to have her on board in a fulltime capacity,” said Jim Milliot, co-editorial director to whom Rosen will report. In addition to covering the issues facing brick-and-mortar booksellers, Rosen will examine what is occurring in nontraditional outlets as well. “I’m delighted to help Publishers Weekly continue to expand its coverage of bookselling news and issues related to book sales in all formats at a time of transition in the industry as a whole," Rosen said.

Rosen’s appointment reflects PW's renewed commitment to cover all the channels through which books are sold in a period when the industry is changing on an almost daily basis. Rosen has been a PW correspondent since 1998. She started her career on the publishing side with The MIT Press and Beacon Press before moving to bookselling, working at the Harvard Book Store and WordsWorth Books. She can be reached at jrosen@publishersweekly.com.

George Slowik, PW’s new owner, says, “What is great about her approach to the topic is it will include all aspects of bookselling unconfined by type of store or even walls for that matter. Books make their way into the hands of readers in many unconventional manners and we intend to explore and illuminate those paths.”
