Judy Hottensen is resigning as publisher of Weinstein Books to return to Grove/Atlantic September 6 as associate publisher where she will take over some of the duties of Eric Price, who is retiring from a fulltime role at Grove where he was associate publisher and chief operating officer. Hottensen had worked at Grove from 1992-2005 before leaving for Weinstein.

With Hottensen’s departure, Perseus Books Group president David Steinberger sent a memo to Perseus employees telling them that a successor for Hottensen is expected to be named shortly. Weinstein Books is a joint venture between Weinstein Company and Perseus Books Group. “Weinstein Books, working in close cooperation with Perseus, is in the final stages of selecting a dynamic and creative leader who will move the imprint forward by drawing on the full multimedia resources of The Weinstein Company,” Steinberger wrote. Until a replacement is found, the Weinstein list will be overseen by John Radziewicz, the publisher of Da Capo Press, and by Da Capo’s editorial, marketing, publicity.

Hottensen’s appointment is just one of several personnel changes announced by Grove head Morgan Entrekin on Monday. Effective immediately, Elisabeth Schmitz, has been promoted to v-p, editorial director and Deb Seager has been promoted to v-p, director of publicity. Price, who is leaving to work in the visual arts, will continue to acquire and edit Grove’s drama list and help with some operational and financial matters. Grove’s executive management committee now includes Entrekin, Hottensen, Schmitz, Seager, v-p, executive editor, Joan Bingham and financial controller, Bill Weinberg.

In addition, Stephanie Gilardi has joined the Grove publicity department as senior publicist. Gilardi previously worked at The Penguin Press. In late July, Jason Pinter joined Grove as the senior marketing manager for the Mysterious Press and Atlantic Monthly Press crime fiction titles.
