Deb Gaffin is joining Open Road Media as a strategic advisor, directing Open Road's marketing and merchandising efforts in the U.K. and Europe. Gaffin, formerly v-p of marketing for Mindshapes, digital product director for Nosy Crow, and an executive at Scholastic, will be based in London and report to Rachel Chou, Open Road’s chief marketing officer.

Roger Cooper, who recently started his own consulting firm after Perseus closed his Vanguard imprint, has been retained by e-book house RosettaBooks as associate publisher-at-large. In the position, Cooper will, Rosetta said, "contribute to [the publisher's] expanding program of securing frontlist and original publishing opportunities and iconic branded lines."

At Clarkson Potter, Francis Lam has been named editor-at-large. Lam, who was most recently features editor at Gilt Taste (the online food magazine of the shopping Web site), will start at CP on February 19. Before Gilt, Lam was a senior writer for Salon.com and a staff writer for Gourmet and Gourmet.com. Lam also appeared as a judge on season four of Bravo's reality cooking show, Top Chef Masters.
