Abrams announced several changes in its publicity and marketing departments, which, according to senior v-p, chief marketing and business development officer Steve Tager, will position the publisher for future growth and will help maximize the many current and emerging opportunities for [its] books in the marketplace.

Veronica Wasserman has been named brand director, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In this new position, she will oversee brand strategy and marketing for Abrams's premier brand and property. Jennifer Brunn has been promoted to senior director, publicity, managing the Abrams adult publicity department.

Claire Bamundo has been promoted to director, publicity and brand strategy in the Abrams adult department. Marisa Dobson has been promoted from publicist to senior publicist.

Merle Brown has added the responsibilities of manager, corporate events to her role as executive assistant to the CEO. Kate Leskowas hired as marketing assistant.

In addition, Katrina Weidknecht, formerly executive director of publicity, recently left the company after six years to move to Denver. She will be available for freelance work this fall and can be reached at kweidknecht@gmail.com.
