Jane von Mehren has joined Zachary Shuster Harmsworth as an affiliate agent. Von Mehren has worked as an editor and publishing executive at Houghton Mifflin, Penguin, and Random House, most recently as a senior v-p and publisher at RHPG. She has edited such authors as Jonis Agee, Douglas Brinkley, Jessica Hagedorn, Dava Sobel, and Susan Vreeland. At ZSH, von Mehren will represent nonfiction in the areas of business, health, memoir, parenting, psychology, and science as well as fiction including YA and Middle Grade literature, thrillers, and women’s fiction.

At Macmillan, Kristina Kadlec has been promoted to senior special sales manager. Elizabeth Lacks has been promoted to assistant editor, SMP. Carol Monteiro has been promoted to sales coordinator, special sales. Heather Moscola has been promoted to executive assistant, sales.

Publishing attorney Alex Gigante has joined Cowan DeBaets Abrahams & Sheppard LLP as special counsel. Gigante was formerly executive v-p for legal affairs for Penguin Group.

Courtney Griffin has been named publicist at Bloomsbury Children’s. Most recently, Griffin was an associate publicist for Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group.

Amy Kaneko is now v-p, sales and marketing at Weldon Owen. Kaneko, who has been with Weldon Owen for seven years, was previously v-p sales and business development.
