After running out of stock on the Nook e-reader shortly after its launch this past holiday season, Barnes & Noble said this morning that the device is back in-stock online and that it will be shipping Nooks to stores this week. B&N expects Nooks to be in stores by mid-week. In addition to e-books, which include public domain titles, Nook users have access to newspapers and magazines as well as exclusive Nook content. Material developed for the Nook for February includes a short story by Adriana Trigiani that features characters from her new novel Brava, Valentine, and a recipe from the Cake Mix Doctor, Anne Byrn, for Valentine Day’s cupcakes. Exclusive content will be available for four weeks.

The Nook launched to mix reviews, and B&N is working to continue to optimize its software for an improved reading experience with the newly updated Nook v1.2. Automatic over the air (OTA) updates, which do not require any action from Nook customers, are underway and will be conducted seamlessly through this week, B&N said.
