Bestselling author Deepak Chopra is teaming with the Crown Publishing Group to create a new imprint, Deepak Chopra Books. In addition to continuing to write for Crown, Chopra will initiate and submit to Crown six nonfiction book projects each year. According to Crown, the mission of the new imprint will be to “publish important, innovative nonfiction books by visionary authors who are committed to enhancing people’s lives." The ultimate goal is an expanded science that bridges spirituality. The first list is scheduled for 2012.

In a prepared statement Chopra said, “I have long enjoyed a felicitous relationship with Crown as the publisher of many of my own bestselling books, and I am excited by this natural extension of our partnership. I look forward to collaborating with Tina Constable and her team to publish books I believe in with the same spirit of creativity and enthusiasm that has animated the publication of my own works.”

In addition to working with Constable, Harmony senior editors Julia Pastore and Gary Jensen will work with Chopra to develop projects for Deepak Chopra Books. In October 2011, Harmony will publish Chopra’s next book, War of the Worldviews: Science vs. Spirituality, co-authored with Leonard Mlodinow.
