PubMatch, CCC Partner and more

International rights portal PubMatch announced a partnership with the Copyright Clearance Center to create an automated, Web-based exchange for rights deals, powered by CCC’s popular RightsLink transaction engine. With affiliates in 15 countries, PubMatch offers members a range of services, including the ability to build company, author, and individual title profiles showing current rights status by language and territory, and the ability to create “on-the-fly” catalogues before trade shows.

Bookstore Sales Fell in February

After increasing by more than 5% in January compared to the first month of 2012, bookstore sales fell 3.6% in February, to $958 million, according to preliminary estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. For the first two months of 2013, bookstore sales were up 2.4% over last year, to $3.09 billion.

S&S Does E-book Lending

S&S has begun a one-year pilot e-book lending program with New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library, and the Queens Library. S&S will make its complete catalogue available for unlimited checkout for one year—after which, the e-books much be repurchased. The program will make all titles available for purchase via the libraries’ Web sites.
