Tim Duggan, currently v-p, executive editor at HarperCollins, is heading to Crown to lead his own eponymous imprint. The news follows Maya Mavjee's May 12 announcement of a new publishing leadership structure at the division, which saw, among other major changes, the departure of editor Rick Horgan.

Duggan steps into his new role as v-p, publisher, Tim Duggan Books on June 9. Under the new imprint, he will publish eight to 10 books per year, split evenly between nonfiction and fiction titles. Duggan will report to Molly Stern, who, after the realignment, now oversees Crown's general interest imprints as senior v-p, publisher, Crown Publishers, Hogarth, and Archetype.

"Tim is someone whom I have admired professionally for years," said Stern. "I am honored and excited by this opportunity for us to work with him as a member of our publishing group."

Duggan's authors include Daniel Mendelsohn, Annie Dillard, Adam Begley, Madeleine Albright, William Boyd, Anderson Cooper, Mark Halperin, Benazir Bhutto, and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. He edited Herbert Bix's Hirohito and the Making of Modern Japan, which won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2001.

“To say that I am excited about this opportunity would be an understatement," said Duggan. "I’m thrilled to be joining the ultra-talented team at Crown, and I can’t wait to get started on building and shaping a brand new list of books that puts an emphasis on discovering bold new voices and aiming for the highest standard of storytelling across a range of genres.”
