Supreme Court Delays Google Decision

The court did not deliver a decision last week on whether to hear the Authors Guild’s appeal in its long-running suit over Google’s book-scanning program. It will most likely be relisted for discussion at the court’s April 15 conference.

Lena Dunham Lands New RH Imprint

The Girls creator and her producing partner Jenni Konner, have found a new home for “Lenny Letter,” a feminist e-newsletter the pair launched in 2015, which featured Dunham’s interview with Hillary Clinton. It will be the basis for an imprint overseen by Random House v-p and editor-in-chief Andy Ward that will publish fiction and nonfiction starting in 2017.

GSU Prevails Again in Copyright Case

A federal court has once again found that Georgia State University’s use of digital course readings in the classroom are protected under fair use. Judge Orinda Evans found that 41 of 48 alleged infringements by GSU were protected by fair use.
