Penguin Random House units Viking, Penguin Books, and Pamela Dorman Books will team up to create a new publishing program across all three imprints that will specialize in inspiration, lifestyle, healthy living, and personal development. The new program—to be called Viking Life, Penguin Life, and Pamela Dorman Books Life—will launch with four books in January 2020.

The three-imprint program will launch with four books but is expected to grow and publish roughly 15 titles a year beginning in 2020. The new program will use editors, publicity, and marketing groups from all three imprints to acquire, produce, and promote books released under the new Life program.

The initial books to be released are supermodel/nutritionist Maye Musk’s book of advice A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success (Viking Life); psychotherapist Philippa Perry’s The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (Pamela Dorman Books Life); Héctor García and Francesc Miralles’s The Book of Ichigo-Ichie: The Art of Making the Most of Every Moment, The Japanese Way (Penguin Life); and Madan Katria’s Laughter Yoga: Daily Practices for Health and Happiness (Penguin Life).

Viking publisher Brian Tart said the new program “will help Viking maximize the success of lifestyle and wellness books,” while Penguin Books publisher Kathryn Court said the program reflects the expansion of Penguin’s reach to books "that help people understand their lives.” Dorman Books publisher Pamela Dorman said she was excited to “dive more deeply” into a book program focused on publishing works of “spirituality and inspiration, or a book of serious psychology, or a book about life changes, especially in the lives of women.”
