Publishing veteran Marta Hallett has founded G Editions, a new independent publisher of illustrated books.

G Editions will publish approximately 12 titles a year in the areas of art and photography, with a focus on fine art and photography monographs and "author-centric" gift titles. Hallett will serve as the publisher's CEO, with Gloria Blanco heading up the company's finance and business operations. Darcy Cohan will direct the publisher's marketing and publicity, and Alexandra Feinman will manage its digital marketing and promotions. The publisher's titles will be distributed by Two Rivers.

The first season of books includes: Traveling Artist: A Visual Journey by Missy Dunaway (May 4); The White Album of the Hamptons by Christophe Von Hohenberg, with a foreword by Jay McInerney (May 25); Reflection: Exploration of Self by Brooke Shaden, with a foreword by Jenny Lawson (June 15); and Russian Fantasy: A Collection of Miniatures by Sally Wallace, with a foreword by Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani( July 6).

“This is an exciting time to launch G Editions, having the focus on publishing works of art, which are no longer exclusively niche categories, but have expanded into virtually every corner of popular interest, providing endless concepts and themes that can now be explored visually,” Hallett said in a statement.

Over the course of her career publishing illustrated books, Hallett has worked with such artists as such as Fernando Botero, Don Bachardy, Fleur Cowles, Frank Gehry, Hans Hoffman, Douglas Kirkland, Sandro Miller, Charles Schultz, Tyler Shields, and Hunt Slonem, among others. She began her career at Harper & Row before launching the coedition company Running Heads, which she codirected until its acquisition by the Quarto Group in 1993. She has held positions as v-p and publisher of HarperCollins’ Collins division; v-p and publisher of Smithmark and the imprint S Editions; and v-p and publisher of Rizzoli International Publications.
