The enthusiasm and activity at the recent Religious Booksellers Trade Exhibit and at BookExpo America were reminders that people are far from done with books, despite research showing fewer readers than nonreaders and predicting the imminent demise of print. E-reading is exploding, and there was plenty of excitement about digital at the shows, in religion/spirituality as in every category of publishing. But many readers still love the feel and the solidity of a print book, and as with movies and television, the rise of one doesn’t spell the death of the other. Clearly, digital and print will be both/and, not either/or, for a very long time.
