An unfortunately rainy afternoon didn’t dampen spirits at yesterday’s Brooklyn Book Festival, the largest yet. Publishers, magazines, journals, local authors, and booksellers set up dozens of booths that sprawled across borough hall, and lines at the ticket booth snaked along the plaza.

Brooklyn booksellers Greenlight appeared to be doing a brisk business, and the staff at the Electric Lit booth didn’t have much downtime.


When the rain kicked in in the early afternoon, umbrellas replaced tote bags as the accessory of choice, and the steps of Borough Hall, which served as a seating area for the main stage and had been packed to capacity all morning, emptied out as attendees headed indoors and turned many if not most panels and readings into standing-room-only affairs.
