World Book Night U.S. took place all day yesterday, April 23. Across the country, a total of 500,000 books were given away, and participants took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Here are some highlights:
Lit magazine Electric Literature tweeted: "Handed out 20 free copies of "Zeitoun" in 10 minutes for
@wbnamerica. Lesson? People do want to read. I'll sleep easy tonight."
User Megan Cohen tweeted: "
@wbnamerica World Book Night is my new favorite holiday-- so much fun teaming up with a friend to do giveaway at a rush hour train station!"
User Emma Straub tweeted: "Just handed out my
#wbnamerica copies of Bel Canto is about ten minutes. Good god that was fun."
A PW writer was a giver yesterday; read her account in today's blog here.
