The third annual YALLFest – Charleston, S.C.’s free YA and middle-grade literary event – took place on November 9. The dozens of authors, among them Libba Bray (The Diviners), Ally Condie (Matched), Ellen Hopkins (Smoke), and Rainbow Rowell (Fangirl); panel discussions like All the Feels, The Middle Grade Storyball, and Writing for Kids; and numerous signings drew large crowds, bringing in well over 3,000 attendees. “It was easily twice the size of last year’s crowd,” said director Jonathan Sanchez. “We had at least 10 writers with lines of over 100 people, and a few had lines over 200 – not counting Veronica Roth.” Below, a sampling of photos from the day.
