On April 11, NYC-based education nonprofit Literacy Partners held their first in-person gala in two years at Cipriani Wall Street in New York's financial district. The evening's emcee was Cynthia McFadden, senior legal and investigative correspondent for NBC News. Gala honorees included Dana Canedy, senior v-p and publisher of Simon & Schuster; Zibby Owens, co-founder and CEO of Zibby Books; and author Ta-Nehisi Coates. Marie Brenner, author and writer-at-large for Vanity Fair, accepted the Champion of Literacy Award.

Since its founding in 1973, Literacy Partners has provided literacy services, including in-person and online English-language literacy classes, to more than 25,000 NYC-based adults and families, with a focus on parents of young children.
