After an Icelandic volcano caused major disruptions for the 2010 London Book Fair, the word coming out of Germany is that a possible countrywide air traffic controller strike could cause problems for the Frankfurt Book Fair. The labor union GdF has threatened to strike after talks over a new contract broke down at the end of the week. According to reports from Germany, because the union has promised to give 24-hours notice before a strike, the earliest a walkout would come is Tuesday, the day before the fair officially begins, but after most Americans have arrived at the fair. What a strike would mean for returning home is unclear. More information about what will happen is expected to be announced Monday.
