As part of the National Education Association’s Read Across America program, mystery publisher Poisoned Pen Press recently partnered with the NFL Players Association to launch what it calls the Great Mystery Book Giveaway.

The program will be a year-round campaign through which the publisher will give books to middle and high school students. The first donation was 43,000 books to Central Florida schools, and coincided with the Super Bowl last month in Tampa, Fla. Every year, the publisher plans to donate thousands of books in the week before the Super Bowl to schools the NEA has determined are in need. Poisoned Pen will also schedule author tours to schools where students and teachers can meet the house’s writers.
