PW Show Daily Call for Information

March 17, 2014

Since 1987, Publishers Weekly has been producing the official daily newspaper of the annual bookseller convention. PW Show Daily covers the major publishing and bookselling issues of interest and significance to convention-goers and highlights many of the events scheduled for BookExpo America and also pre-BEA programs.

This year, PW Show Daily will be distributed at Book Expo on May 29, May 30, and May 31. On each day, PW Show Daily will be available to conventioneers before the exhibits open, with early-morning distribution at shuttle bus stops, selected hotels, and in the exhibition hall.

To assure that PW Show Daily coverage reflects what's happening at the convention, we need your help. Please send us advance releases and photographs of authors who will be appearing at the convention to promote their books, particularly those who will be participating on panels, and at breakfasts, luncheons, and press conferences as well as autographings. Since we do advance interviews with these participants, we welcome this information as soon as possible.

We would like to know about special anniversaries and interesting booth events, as well as announcements of new products and sales programs being launched at BookExpo, so that we can plan pre-convention and on-site coverage. We would also appreciate any suggestions for features that you would like to see in PW Show Daily.

Interviews with authors, booksellers, and publishers; listings of special offers and giveaways; sidelines and remainders; international happenings; stories about new books; new technology and more will be part of the editorial package, along with on-site coverage of events both on and off the exhibit floors, including meetings and panels, ABA news, and updates from BEA’s show organizer, Reed Exhibitions.

Information about New York sights, places to eat, and special events scheduled during BookExpo will be noted. Photos of activities both on and off the floor, authors, publishers, costumed characters, etc., will be featured. Please note that this coverage is for all adult and children's books and product, including e-books, audio, sidelines, etc.

While we will accommodate late-breaking news and on-site photo and text coverage through Friday afternoon, May 30, we welcome PW Show Daily submissions as early as April 8, with the general deadline of April 25. Do continue to send advance information throughout April and May, the earlier, the better.

Please send story ideas and information (except for children’s and YA books, see below) to Daisy Maryles, Editor, PW Show Daily; e-mail submissions should go to dmaryles@publishersweekly.com, and send any books, packages, and printed submissions to Daisy Maryles, 1620 Avenue I, #317, Brooklyn, NY 11230.

Please direct all information about children’s and YA books, authors, and events to Diane Roback; send e-mail submissions to childrensbooks@publishersweekly.com and send any packages or printed submissions to Diane Roback, Publishers Weekly, 49 West 23rd Street, Ninth Floor, New York, NY 10010.

Copies of this request for information have been sent out by PW and by BEA. Also, we do not need copies of the material that you submit for PW’s April 29 pre-BookExpo issue—look for a call for information in Publishers Weekly and on publishersweekly.com for information and deadlines for that issue.
