SAGE Publications, one of the world’s leading independent publishers of higher education academic content for classroom and library use has an exceptional opening for a field based Sales Representative in our Textbook Sales Department in an Atlanta-based territory. The territory consists of Colleges and Universities throughout Atlanta, Georgia and parts of South Carolina, Alabama and North Carolina. This position requires weekly overnight travel (30-40%) during key selling periods.

Sales Representatives interview faculty members at colleges and universities and assist them with matching our SAGE and CQ Press textbooks and online materials to their course requirements. Sales representatives service and sell to an established customer base and are responsible for continued revenue growth and new business development in the assigned territory to meet and exceed yearly sales goals. Successful representatives report competitive information and market trends to sales and marketing managers and identify prospective authors and reviewers to editorial staff.

Required:
• The ideal candidate must have a 4 year degree with evidence of top achievement in both academic and professional background.
• A minimum of 3+ years professional experience is required.
• We are looking for individuals with superior ability to develop rapport, overcome objections and persuade within a highly competitive sales environment.
• The successful candidate must have the ability to develop and maintain lasting relationships with key decision makers.
• Candidates must be highly proficient with technology and computer applications.
• This is a demanding position often requiring more than 50 hours a week during key selling periods.

Preferred:
• Publishing or Educational Sales Experience
• Experience working with CRM systems in a sales capacity
• Experience working a large geographic territory with overnight travel
• Experience with demonstrating products to potential customers in both formal presentation environments and less formal one-on-one and small group environments.
• Candidates who can demonstrate results in needs-based selling environments

The successful candidate can expect to earn in the mid - $50,000 to 75,000+ the first year, based on a starting salary in the upper $40,000 to low $50,000 plus range plus an annual bonus that adds up to $25,000 per year at goal, but could be higher based upon sales performance. Salary can be higher based upon previous sales and publishing experience.
