Description
We are looking for an experienced Public Relations person to join our Young Readers Publicity team. Work with a wide range of imprints and titles to successfully execute a dynamic publicity campaign.

Penguin Young Readers publishes leading and award-winning authors including: Mike Lupica, Richard Peck, Ally Condie, John Grisham, Harlan Coben, Sarah Dessen, Richelle Mead, John Green, Eric Carle, Tomie dePaola, Jan Brett, Judy Schachner, and Anthony Horowitz.


Responsibilities include:

1. Fostering strong relationships with key media
2. Pitching to national and regional TV, print, radio and online media
3. Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with high profile authors
4. Working closely with publishers/editors, sales and marketing
5. Writing press releases, targeted pitch letters, author bios, and other publicity material
6. Arranging and attending author tours and select author appearances
7. Creating targeted mailing lists
8. Cultivating and maintaining author relationships
9. Researching author appearance opportunities

Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years publicity experience; book publicity a plus
• Strong pitching technique and proven ability to generate creative hook ideas
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to work within fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Strong organizational skills & ability to focus on details a must
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Publicity Assistant, Cision; SAP a plus
• Ability to travel less than 5% of the year via airplane, train or automobile required
• An interest in children’s publishing is a plus
