The Local Language Publishing (LLP) Senior Program Associate’s primary responsibilities include providing program management support to the LLP Global Program Officer (GPO) and assistance to the regional and local in-country teams, specifically in areas related to systems and processes and improving business publishing models and distribution. The position reports directly to the LLP GPO and is based in San Francisco, CA with approximately 20%-25% international travel annually.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Support the LLP GPO and coordinate with the LLP Regional Program Manager to track program implementation and ensure quality of program deliverables
•Coordinate improvements on business publishing models that increase access to books; ensure cost effectiveness and program efficiency
•Stay informed on the state of the children’s book publishing industry in each program country and research trends in the areas of local publishing, literacy materials development, languages and children’s literature; work with the GPO to make recommendations accordingly
•As needed, travel to countries where Room to Read operates to provide technical support to country teams on program design and implementation as well as plan and co-facilitate workshops
•Develop and maintain a standard LLP Operations Manual and Resource Guide
•Edit inside cover pages in English and translations of manuscripts; write summaries and offer guidance and feedback to country teams on content, line and layout edits on manuscripts and summaries
•Coordinate tracking of dedication language with the Development team and country teams for editing and printing approval
•Monitor and track distribution of LLP books globally
•Provide and review information for foundation, corporate, and individual funding proposals and reports, including quarterly updates, program by country overviews and stories from the field
•Maintain and update program specific data in a projects database, verifying data integrity with in-country teams and creating and running reports
•Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to maintain, collect and analyze global indicator data for LLP program and recommend improvements
•Archive LLP resources and materials including printed materials, electronic materials, photos and LLP library
•Coordinate material and knowledge sharing across LLP country offices
•Assist with planning and coordination of internal conferences, meetings and other trainings related to LLP
•Manage LLP contractors and volunteers
•Respond to external phone and email inquiries regarding LLP
•Coordinate and hold after-hours monthly calls (6-8 hours per month) with regional staff worldwide to discuss and troubleshoot programmatic and operational issues
•Other tasks as needed
