|Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Publisher will develop, with senior staff, a comprehensive vision for publications consistent with the expansion and transformation of the Whitney Museum. The Publisher will direct a program to advance the mission and artistic program of the Museum and will be responsible for all publications, taking leadership in the areas of editorial, production, and rights and reproductions. Additional responsibilities: Produce significant popular and scholarly catalogues for exhibitions and the Museum’s collection and additional publications to support and advance the Whitney’s brand; establish net positive contributing to the long-term business plan, taking into account the museum’s mission and program, as well as the marketplace, including electronic publishing. |
Requirements: B.A. (M.A. preferred); 7-10 years of experience in a senior publishing position (preferably museum publishing) involving editorial, design, and production responsibilities; knowledge of print and electronic production; art production experience; contacts with publishers, writers, designers, etc.; some marketing experience desirable.
