Description	Responsibilities: The primary purpose of the position is to acquire manuscripts for professional and scholarly books in education and in working with their authors. Other duties include: ~ Thorough knowledge of the publishing process ~ Three plus years’ experience in book acquisitions ~ Proven achievement in acquiring books ~ Liaise with production, design, and editors to ensure timely turnover of manuscripts ~ Meet and discuss publications with the marketing coordinators ~ Communicate as necessary with authors ~ Review manuscripts and negotiate contracts with authors in accordance with R&L policies ~ Represent the imprint by attending professional meetings of interest to educators ~ Working with professional groups who have co-publishing agreements with R&L ~ Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications: Candidates for this position should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s degree; experience in teaching and/or supervising school operations; and experience in editing and publishing.
