|Founded in 1893, the University of California Press has grown to become one of the most distinguished scholarly publishers with a world-class list of books, journals and digital publications across the humanities, social sciences and sciences. The newly-expanded role of Editorial Director at UC Press will have responsibility for all aspects of content acquisition and development including books, journals and digital products. The incumbent will direct three editorial teams in Humanities, Social Sciences and Science as well as product specialists. The Editorial Director is responsible for all aspects of the editorial growth and development of the Press including the planning, creation and implementation of editorial strategies to produce new products, enhance existing programs and expand the market reach and impact of UC Press products.|
The Editorial Director must be well versed in the rapidly changing trends in scholarly publishing, innovations in digital publishing and technology, and the broader trends driving change in UC Press’s core markets. He/she will have demonstrated the ability to think and act strategically while demonstrating the hands-on skills to manage and expand a high quality, innovative publishing program. The Editorial Director will have extensive experience of successfully managing author relationships and negotiations.
The Editorial Director also serves as part of the top management team at UC Press responsible for developing long-range direction and business strategies for UC Press as a whole, and assuming oversight management of selected long-range projects as determined by the Director.
