ABRAMS is seeking a "process savvy" individual to manage the processes and workflow of an art department for an illustrated book publisher publishing 150 books annually. Individual will serve as the quality control and compliance contact for all materials that transmit to and from design.

Strategic responsibilities include serving as the proactive liaison for design with editorial, managing editorial and production departments; continuously improving the file transmission process and the development chain leading to it; model and communicate the department's commitment to teamwork and collaboration; oversee schedule compliance for books, sales and marketing collateral and materials for major trade shows; manage the staff and output of the design management group.

Day-to-day responsibilties include working with the Executive Art Director to effectively manage freelancers; overseeing the design management staff of 2 to handle: providing competent, proactive design support for the adult editorial team; serve as liaison for requests of digital assets and manage the digital asset files and systems; organize and track delivery of materials; fulfill foreign rights requests; process invoices, manage supplies, provide barcodes; liaise with and traffic materials to and from freelance designers.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree; 5+ years' experince in book publishing managing design, production or related areas; strong understanding of the production (pre-press) and printing process; strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve. Proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite.
