Description | The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is in search of an Editor-in-Chief, Books and Related Resources for its books program. The position is located in our Washington, DC Headquarters Office. The target audience for NAEYCâÃÂÃÂs books is early childhood education (ECE) faculty, students, and practitioners working with children, birthâÃÂÃÂage 8. The peer-reviewed program releases produces, acquires, or updates 15 to 20 books yearly and has annual sales of $3 million, with 80+ books in print and a staff of four. The programâÃÂÃÂs goals are to meet the learning needs of a diverse audience, as well as provide revenue in support of NAEYCâÃÂÃÂs other programs and activities. Each book must meet the highest standards regarding ECE best practice and the research base on how young children develop and learn optimally.
The ideal candidate will have a MasterâÃÂÃÂs in ECE, child development, or closely related area, Ph.D. preferred or at minimum 10 years work experience at a senior level in direct service to young children and their families (classroom/administration) and/or training support of early childhood practitioners. Five years minimum of publishing experience at a senior level in developmental editing or acquisitions; preferably at a non-profit professional organization. Evidence of strong managerial, conceptual, and writing skills is required. Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits. |
