Description | Princeton University Press is seeking a seasoned professional to serve as a senior member of the press management team responsible for developing long-range direction and sales strategies for the press. This person will develop and execute a clearly defined sales strategy that supports consistent revenue growth and enhances the reputation of the Press. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, training, and managing all sales functions. The Sales Director will have direct sales responsibility for some major accounts and management responsibility for national accounts, sales representatives, domestic rights, and international sales. Candidates must be well versed in a range of sales strategies including on-line, the rapidly changing trends in scholarly publishing, and innovations in digital publishing and technology. Candidates should also have proven ability to think and act strategically while demonstrating the hands-on skills to create and implement innovative, effective sales campaigns through his/her staff. Candidates must have a minimum of 5-10 years of related sales experience in selling serious nonfiction books into the trade marketplace and managing key accounts, possess outstanding oral and written communication skills, and be experienced in sales analysis, forecasting, budgeting and staff management. The ideal candidate will have a track record of meeting targets and objectives, experience in social media and on-line sales, and provide recommendations and sales/pricing projections on projects under consideration for publication.
