The Acquisitions Editor is responsible for book acquisition, ms. development, and author relations in key publishing areas including undergraduate and academic works in ethics, theology, general biblical studies, missiology, and gender studies, as well as product development for general religious markets. A successful Acquisitions Editor will be able to solicit, develop, and deliver for production 12 or more titles per year in a program balanced for the strategic and economic goals established. The Acquisitions Editor serves on the editorial team and reports directly to the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief.

Education: Master’s degree in theology, religious studies, or similar program.
Experience/Skills: 3-5 years experience in acquisitions or editorial work at an academic press/program or equivalent with demonstrable level of success. Excellent command of the English language and Chicago Manual with ability to quickly evaluate competent writing, master edit, and deliver ms. production-ready on schedule. Strong computer and interpersonal skills. Reading knowledge of a second language a plus.
