Job Description, Boston Publishing Office Coordinator:
The Boston Publishing Office Coordinator will be the central position within a small but busy book publishing firm. This position is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the office, coordinating between all departments as well as our London office, having a strong hand in keeping the books moving through their various processes and maintaining control over many facets of metadata and information.
Establishing new titles in the marketplace through registration and maintenance of metadata.
Assist Editorial and Production in every stage (print and e-book) from manuscript to marketplace, including communicating with authors at various stages.
Maintain our current e-books presence, as well as keep track of and assist in the creation and distribution of new titles as they occur.
Coordinate ordering and uploading of files to our printers, and assist in the reprint process.
Review inventory daily and address any inventory issues with the Sales Manager as well as help create daily or weekly reports.
Work with the Sales Manager to address any book-related issues with our distribution center and monitor the accuracy and completeness of our book presence on Amazon.
Assist in the creation of marketing/publicity plans and coordinate these strategies via physical mailings, e-mail blasts, author outreach, conferences, catalogs, and our website.
Field permission requests and assist with translation rights deals.
General office management and assisting in managing and training our staff of interns.
Strong desire to learn and grow in the publishing industry.
College degree and 2+ years experience in a publishing office environment.
Track record of excellent organizational skills.
Smart, energetic, proactive individual with outstanding communications skills, both oral and written.
Self-motivated, with excellent time management abilities and strong collaborative sense.
Strong problem solving skills are necessary.
Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Word and Excel a must.
A basic understanding of Quark, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator would be an advantage.
