Description
This position is responsible for strategically managing and developing the marketing department’s customer data needs. It includes analyzing the Press's data distribution workflow to create, implement, and maintain procedures to efficiently update the Press’s trading partners for both electronic and print publications. This person will work closely with the Digital Sales Director to provide and update detailed metadata to CoreSource (digital asset distributor) and will consult directly with CoreSource on questions of metadata and related Press workflows, recommending adjustments to existing processes for optimal efficiency. This person will also fulfill the unique data requirements of various vendors outside of CoreSource, including CourseSmart.

Additional responsibilities include:
* Aids the webmaster in mounting new ebooks on the website and adding links to their ebook pages at major e-retailers’ sites.
* Assists the webmaster in moving new seasonal book data to the website.
* Updates the Press's fulfillment system on a monthly basis and will be responsible for creating an automated and frequent update process.
* Performs daily monitoring and resolution of distribution error messages at digital asset distributor resulting from metadata problems.
* Collaborates with internal staff from all departments of the press (as well as with external press-wide database and warehouse programmers), in identifying efficient workflows and solutions.
* Reaches out to business partners and counterparts at other publishers to identify best practices that might be applied to the Press.
* Prepares a weekly ONIX update to trading partners, using an in-house SQL database.
* Extracts price and availability information from our fulfillment system on a weekly basis and sends delta files to accounts notifying them of changes.

Skill Set:
+ XML and XML Tools
+ Strong SQL skills
+ Ability to utilize Access databases
+ HTML, XHTML, HTML5 familiarity
+ Scripting knowledge (Perl, Python, JavaScript)
+ Able to use Microsoft Office Suite
+ Knowledge of FTP
+ Strong written communication skills
+ Strong problem solving skills
+ Strong attention to details.
+ Open/able to learn how to use new software
+ Experience using CoreSource or similar digital asset management and distribution software a plus
+ Publishing background and experience with print to digital challenges a plus
+ Familiarity with ONIX a plus.

This position reports to the Digital Sales Director.
