The Perseus Books Group is seeking a highly motivated and detailed oriented applicant to fill the position of Special Sales Assistant. This position supports the Gift Sales Team as they manage and develop business in non-traditional markets for all Perseus Books Group imprints and many independent Client Publishers. The position reports to the Special Sales Director but will support both the entire Gift Sales Department.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Gift Rep Support

The Sales Assistant will assist the outside commission sales Gift Sales Reps and will be responsible for the following:

• Primary contact of Gift Reps for account, order, and product questions
• Review, notation, and tracking of incoming account orders new account paperwork
• Regular mailings to reps and showrooms of catalogs and sales materials, as needed mailings to accounts
• Prepare materials for rep key account sales calls
• Place bulk and individual sample orders for reps and accounts
• Research new account leads
• Assist reps and accounts with Customer Service and Credit questions

Department Support

The Sales Assistant will assist all members of the Gift Sales Department and be responsible for the following:

• Process workorders
• Maintain and track inventory reserves
• Seasonal mailing projects to accounts
• Assist with creation of sales and marketing tools within the department
• Run daily, monthly, and quarterly department sales reports
• Assist in preparation for sales calls
• Collect necessary sales materials from publishers
• Publisher specific account outreach
• Assist with production of the Gift Catalog
• Attend Sales and publisher meetings as requested
• General administrative support as necessary

Requirements:
-Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point
-Excellent written and verbal communication
-Ability to multi-task and handle deadlines
-Desire to grow in the Special Sales Department
-Good problem solving skills
-Interest in creative thinking and marketing

Education
A B.A. or equivalent college degree is required.
