Description | Westminster John Knox Press seeks an experienced academic acquisitions editor. S/he will be expected to acquire content in a range of genres suitable for publication in print, electronic, and hybrid formats. Particular emphasis will be placed on the development and acquisition of books and textbooks aimed at seminary and divinity school students, graduate school students, and upper-division undergraduates in theology programs, with additional acquisitions in biblical studies, ethics, and church history programs. The Acquisitions Editor is responsible for continuing the Publisher’s reputation for excellence through high quality acquisitions. The role involves extensive contact with authors and potential authors, review of solicited and unsolicited proposals, negotiation of contract terms, preparation of manuscripts for production, collaborations with colleagues regarding sales, marketing, and budgeting of editorial projects, and long range strategic planning of the Press. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of demonstrated acquisitions experience in religion or a related subject at a religion publisher, university press, textbook publisher, or trade publisher.
