|Marketing Manager oversees the marketing plans across Disney Hyperion imprints including Disney Hyperion, Hyperion (for teen), paperbacks and Disney-Jump at the Sun. The position supports the in-house sales team on their needs for selling in titles to the retail marketplace and also works on direct marketing to consumers. |
• Overseeing marketing plans for all Disney-Hyperion and Disney-Jump at the Sun titles
o Manages the budget for every title under Disney Hyperion umbrella across the year.
o Create marketing plans for every title, including all consumer and trade advertising (print and online), grassroots marketing outreach (mailings, viral marketing promotions), in-store retail placement (book displays and retail signage), promotional giveaways (bookmarks, pens, and other materials), and social media outreach.
o Work closely with School & Library marketing as well as Publicity to create cohesive plan.
o Work closely with online marketing manager in coordinating all social media efforts and online advertising.
• Coordinate trade show presence at three major conventions each year:
o Primary manager of all trade shows including BookExpo America, San Diego Comic Con, and New York Comic Con.
o Oversee the budget for these conventions, managing the design and layout of the booth space, coordinating tickets, hotel accommodations, and logistics for all related events, and all logistical details in facilitating communication at each show.
o Coordinate all related promotional giveaways and advertising
• Coordinate retail-specific promotions
o This includes working directly with the individual sales representatives on coordinating account exclusive promotions and overall retail signage and initiatives to give our titles better placement in-store. From online exclusive chapter giveaways (coordinated via stickered stock) to signage approval for mass chain stores to annual participation in Barnes & Noble and Borders Educator Night events, I am the point person for approval, copy, budget and design for these account-specific projects with the sales team.
• Supervise the marketing relationship with Hachette distribution team
o Coordinating and providing collated marketing plans and fact sheets to the Hachette (and internal) sales team each season
o Coordinate the schedule for PowerPoint presentations, seasonal cover images, and other needed support materials for the sales team.
o Coordinate with the editorial team the master schedule for providing manuscripts for both the internal and Hachette team each season, for internal reference.
• IndieBound mailings: This includes managing a yearly budget and promotional calendar for our efforts in coordinating IndieBound mailings, promoting all relevant Disney-Hyperion titles through the independent book channel.
o Budget and coordinate sales materials, oversee our promotional presence with this organization, including all special advertising, online video promotion, and additional efforts throughout the year.
• Oversee communication of all marketing efforts with sales and editorial team:
o Weekly Marketing Update to Sales, which reviews through all efforts from both consumer and school & library marketing on a biweekly basis to the sales and editorial team, providing them with assets to position all key titles with our marketing efforts to accounts. This has also included regular brag sheets and marketing plan reviews for key titles, provided on an ongoing basis (both via PDF sheets and ecard promotions) to give a more in-depth review of marketing plans for all Disney-Hyperion promotions on a title-by-title basis.
• Oversee the master budget review for Disney-Hyperion:
o Provide a master document annually that recaps the marketing spend for our Promotions Manager and Director of Marketing for both the consumer titles and a recap for school & library and publicity as well. This annual report, compiled and updated each year, runs through the outstanding budget for the fiscal year for all titles.
o Oversee the budget annually for TSI warehouse contact, and day-to-day coordination with this facility in storing all marketing products and materials.
• Catalog and presales presentations and review:
o Regular presentation to the sales team of all marketing efforts, along with our Director of Marketing each season for key titles, at both the presales meeting and sales conference.
o Provide all updated copy and marketing points for our digital catalog.
• Oversee and provide content for social media pages and Disney.com site:
o Provide our online marketing manager with full copy and marketing points for all specific portfolio pages, and regular updates for promotion our titles on the Disney.com network.
o Oversee content for our various social media pages on Facebook and Twitter, with regular posting updates, and work with our online marketing manager in supervising these pages.
• Oversee back of book ads and ebook ad promotions:
o Work closely with managing editorial department and ebook Account Manager to provide a regular schedule of in-book cross promotional opportunities, promoting key titles both in printed and ebook form, and provide assets and work to coordinate efforts across both formats on an ongoing basis.
