|Harvard Business Review is the most globally respected brand in business publishing. The role of Licensing Manager, Harvard Business Review Press, is to increase the visibility of the Harvard Business Review brand and extend the reach and impact of HBR Press content and authors beyond our core publishing platforms. It is responsible for leveraging the value of HBR content by licensing content for translation and publication in other formats such as audio, paperback and digital chapters. The Licensing Manager develops and maintains trusted publishing partnerships with agents, publishers, and editors of digital content repositories to drive profitable growth from a diverse portfolio of print and digital licensing agreements.|
• Apply market and channel analysis to a strategic evaluation of primary territories and markets for licensing syndication:
• Following evaluation, create an overall licensing business plan with revenue goals and growth targets for key channels and markets
• Build and maintain productive relationships with external partners – publishers, agents, authors, colleagues focused on international markets -- to enhance the value of HBR Press content and ensure a consistent brand experience for HBR’s global audience
• Align translation efforts with HBR Press English-language global distribution programs, HBR licensed edition marketing, and HBS Research Center presence
• Manage relationships with licensing subagents and create an overall plan for the use of subagents in non-direct territories.
• Oversee the HBR presence at international book fairs; create and disseminate rights guide and any other materials that support content evaluation and licensing agreements.
• When appropriate, license content for trade paperback publication
• Pursue licensing agreements for content in non-book format (ie, audio, digital short form and derivatives)
• As a member of the Press Marketing and Sales team, participate in all internal publishing processes that influence the licensing business including acquisitions meetings, launch meetings, HBRP international meetings
• Manage related support functions including operational, administrative, and revenue functions; review current operations with a reengineering mindset to improve operational efficiencies
