ABRAMS is seeking an accurate, detail minded individual with excellent copyediting (on hard copy and electronically) and proofreading skills to help manage the editorial process for an illustrated book publisher with an annual list of 200+ titles including art books, illustrated books, cookbooks, craft books and calendars. Individual will be responsible for working with editorial, design, and production departments to create and track workable schedules that support sales and marketing deadlines and ensure timely delivery of books; copyediting and proofreading book interiors, jacket copy, calendars and marketing materials; guiding books through the preproduction process including collating and checking corrections on page layouts, color proofs, and blue lines; hiring, managing and evaluating freelance copyeditors and proofreaders; using a title management system to track and maintain book data and schedules; contributing to production meetings; tracking book-related materials for sales and marketing uses; working on seasonal catalogs.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree; 3- 5years’ experience as a managing editor or production editor in the book industry, preferably for an illustrated book publisher; thorough command of the Chicago Manual of Style; experience hiring and managing freelance copy editors and proofreaders. Proven ability to work collaboratively and manage workflow; create and manage schedules across departments; track multiple projects and meet editorial production dates in a deadline-driven environment.
