Manages the overall publicity-related work of Abingdon Press publishing programs and, upon occasion, provides support to the corporate communications function for the United Methodist Publishing House. Supervises public relations firms under contract to Abingdon Press. Creates and directs publicity programs designed to improve sales of Abingdon Press products. Disseminates information to stakeholder groups by identifying primary audiences and determining the most effective ways to communicate publicity information to them. Develops and makes publicity pitches to appropriate media outlets for possible coverage. Writes effective press releases and prepares information for media kits. Develops and maintains assigned internet and intranet web pages, social media sites and communication tools such as podcasts and webcasts. Manages requests from all media on behalf of Abingdon Press.
