Job Description: Race Point Publishing is seeking a talented and creative individual with book design experience that possesses strong skills in design, layout, typography, and time management for the position of Senior Designer. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including conceptualizing, designing, and managing the creation of high-quality illustrated books, calendars, and journals as well as promotional materials to support the sales team. Responsibilities: • Conceptualize cover and interiors for books with a sharp and cutting-edge design sensibility • Hiring and managing freelance designers for illustrated books, providing briefs, maintaining schedules, and processing contracts and invoices for them • Preparing jacket, cover, and interior mechanicals for the printer and being responsible for all stages of design from manuscript to bound book • Checking color proofs • Keeping projects moving smoothly to maintain publication schedule • Archiving all project files Requirements: • BFA degree in design/art or equivalent work experience • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably dealing with licensed properties • Knowledge of typography, graphic design, book manufacturing, printing, and production • Mastery of all graphic programs, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator • Ability to provide creative solutions to design challenges • Have a working knowledge of current industry and design trends • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Extremely organized and detail-oriented Benefits: Quayside Publishing Group offers a competitive salary, generous benefits package and 401k with company match.
